I keep putting off having friends over for Sunday brunch but this recipe may give me the push I need. Enjoy!

Frittata with Potato and Bacon
adapted from Everyday Italian

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 (15-ounce) potato, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
6 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 slices bacon, coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh basil

In a 9-1/2 inch diameter nonstick ovenproof skillet, cook the bacon. Remove to drain on a paper towel and wipe out the skillet. Heat the oil over a medium flame. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, about 4 minutes. Add the potato, garlic, salt and pepper, and sauté over medium-low heat until the potato is tender and golden, about 15 minutes.

Preheat the broiler. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, Parmesan cheese, bacon and basil to blend. Stir the egg mixture into the potato mixture in the skillet. Cover and cook over medium-low heat until the egg mixture is almost set, but the top is still runny, about 2 minutes. Place the skillet under the broiler and broil until the top is set and golden brown, about 4 minutes. Using a rubber spatula, loosen the frittata from the skillet and slide it onto a plate. Cut the frittata into wedges and serve.

Alternative Love

So, what's a bride to do when she isn't the typical bride? Pink roses and a lace gown just aren't her style and she's so not into traditional engraved invitations. I came across these cards on MadeByGirl and they're incredible. I can so imagine Jennifer tweaking the design to fit a wedding paper suite. Picture the design throughout the wedding, on the programs, save the dates, even on the dance floor! And I know the perfect girl for these...skull and crossbones tattoo and all.

For The Cool In You

In my opinion, no household is complete without a well-stocked bar. After all you never know when friends might pop in, in desperate need of a cocktail. Let your style to shine thru with these beautifully sculptural decanters. Some are strong, others are sexy and very femme, but all are definitely cool. Cheers!

Friday's Escape: Hotel Sacher Salzburg

I'm feeling a bit decadent today and in need of a little "old world" charm and grace. One country that embodies those feelings to me is Austria. There are so many wonderfully grand hotels, that it was hard choosing just one, but for you, dear readers, a sacrifice was made. When I think of Austria, one famous resident comes to mind...Mozart. Located along the banks of the River Salzach, is the impressive Hotel Sacher Salzburg. Enjoy!

Food For Thought Thursday:Summer Watermelon

What would summer be without watermelon? One of my favorites, hands down. The quintessential summer fruit can be enjoyed by the slice, in a salad or a frozen treat. Choose your favorite and have some fun in the kitchen before they go out of season.

Blending Two Worlds

After visiting Dubai last week, I started thinking of what a bride from that region may where. What I came upon was pure magic! One of the things I love about asian and middle eastern weddings is the use of color. The brides are not shy about using color to their advantage and I could talk for days about the jewels! So imagine my excitement when I came across Indian designer Suneet Varma. His designs bridge the gap for brides who want a white gown but one that reflects their heritage. It's about blending two worlds and the result is incredible.
